Officials in Texas are set to vote Tuesday on a controversial new public school curriculum that incorporates Christian lessons from the Bible as early as kindergarten while putting less focus on other faiths.

Critics say the curriculum, which would be optional, unfairly promotes Christian beliefs in public schools in Texas.

The new curriculum would include passages from the Bible in lessons for students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
