Senior officer insists a visit from the US President would not come at the expense of communities, despite warnings from the Scottish Police Federation.

"Planning is under way for a potential visit to Scotland later this month by the President of the United States," Emma Bond, assistant chief constable of Police Scotland, said in a statement. "While official confirmation has not yet been made, it is important that we prepare in advance for what would be a significant policing operation."
