A 37-year-old man has pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of 2nd-degree intentional murder in connection with a "shooting rampage" at Minneapolis homeless encampments. Under the terms of the plea deal, Joshua Anthony Jones will be sentenced to 35 years in prison.
Inside the apartment, police said they found a deceased man in his 20s, a deceased woman in her 20s and an injured woman in her 40s.
The ATF says statewide, the number of illegal guns seized from people 17 and under has doubled in six years, from 77 in 2017 to 150 in 2023.
The two dead in the shooting were brother and sister, Chief Brian O’Hara said in the release. The injured woman was transported to HCMC for treatment.
A neighbor heard “cries for help” after a barrage of gunfire ripped through a Minnesota park and discovered 11-year-old Amir Lamar Atkins suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. “In a moment of crisis, his older brother’s love shone through as he carried Amir, seeking help,” family said in a GoFundMe.
