A federal judge in Maryland may soon become the second to block President Donald Trump’s order restricting birthright citizenship from taking effect nationwide.

Effective immediately, the Trump administration can begin planning for how it would implement an end to birthright citizenship.

A federal judge used an exception to overcome the Supreme Court's recent ruling that restricted the ability of judges to block this and other policies nationwide.
