Saturday's forecast also advises there is a slight risk of severe storms, with damaging wind gusts, over the northern area of central North Carolina on Saturday night. The highest risk is between 3 and 11 p.m. The heat wave may continue on Sunday, though a heat advisory has not yet been issued.

The storms can produce damaging winds and cause flooding, as one to three inches of rain are expected in some areas.
