Looking ahead, a significant warming trend is expected next week. Temperatures will climb into the upper 80s and potentially reach the low 90s by midweek, with increasing humidity. Thunderstorm chances will return Tuesday through Thursday, with the possibility of heat indices approaching 100 degrees.
Highs could reach the lower 80s today, but also because of the clouds, there is a chance upper 70s could be more realistic for highs today. The wind will be southwesterly at 5 to 10 mph, gusting to 20 mph. The normal high for July 19th is 82 degrees.
T emperatures will be on the rise into the weekend, but so will storm chances. Omaha's Weather Leader has deemed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday impact weather days with potential for strong storms each night. Then, dangerous heat likely builds in next week.
Rounds of rain and showers are expected to continue into the weekend, with local high water and flash flooding concerns also persisting.
