Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh on Tuesday hit back at Congress leader P Chidambaram for blaming him for the crisis in the state and accused the former Union Minister of being the "root cause" of the ongoing crisis in the northeastern state.

Chidambaram said that there was a need to acknowledge Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh to be the cause of this crisis while demanding that he be removed "immediately." The Meitei, Kuki-Zo and the Naga can live together in one state only if they have regional autonomy, he added.

Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh has refuted former Union Minister P Chidambaram's claims, who blamed Singh for the ongoing Manipur crisis. Singh alleged that Chidambaram's past actions during his tenure as Home Minister are the actual root cause of the ongoing unrest,

Amid ongoing crisis throughout the state, Chief Minister N Biren Singh broke the silence and stated that his party will continue to work for peace. Speaking in an exclusive chat with ANI, the Chief Minister went on to pin the blame for the conflict on Congress.
