Kailash Gahlot resigned as Delhi minister as well as the Aam Aadmi Party citing concerns around the party leadership and its approach towards resolving the issues of the 'aam aadmi'.

On November 17, in his resignation letter addressed to AAP’s national convenor and Delhi CM Atishi, Gahlot mentioned unfulfilled promises and recent controversies as reasons for quitting the party.

Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar who was present at Gahlot's joining welcomed the senior leader to the BJP. In his resignation letter, Gahlot had criticised the Aam Aadmi Party's inability to deliver on crucial commitments made to the people of Delhi.

Gahlot noted that such decisions are not taken overnight, they happen over a "prolonged period". He emphasized that it takes time to understand a few things.
