Europe’s top human rights court delivered two rulings against Russia Wednesday, stating Russia has violated international law in Ukraine, the first time an international court has found Moscow responsible for human rights abuses since the full-scale invasion in 2022.

Judges also rule that Russia was behind the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 in 2014 which killed 298 people.

The European Court of Human Rights delivered two of four rulings against Russia in an international inquiry brought by Ukraine and the Netherlands.
