Showers and thunderstorms return overnight tonight. Timing out the first wave that could bring strong winds and the next wave this weekend.

Changes are coming for the weekend as your NEXT Weather team is now tracking the possibility of pop-up showers and storms both Saturday and Sunday.
Beautiful Friday Weather Before Weekend Storm System: Friday will be a beautiful day with chilly morning temperatures quickly warming to the 70s with low humidity and clear skies. If you can take today off, it would be the day to do it. This pleasant weather will be short-lived as a storm system approaches for Saturday.
Mainly Cloudy with Peeks of Sun in the Twin Cities Today and Rain Sprinkles possible this afternoon with highs in the mid 70s and Winds from the South at 5 to 15 mph – also becoming Humid during the evening hours.
The Storm Prediction Center has areas along and north of I-64 in a marginal risk for a few strong storms. The better chance for severe storms looks to be to our north closer to Indianapolis over to Columbus on Saturday. Another round of afternoon storms looks likely on Sunday with heavy downpours and some gusty winds as the main concerns.
Michigan residents may want to plan their beach day on Sunday, July 20, as heavy rain, thunderstorms are predicted to develop on Saturday, July 19.
The pattern remains unsettled with a stalled front nearby and a humid, unstable air mass in place this afternoon. This will ignite more soaking showers and storms. The storms will be more numerous today and will be on the stronger side. The Storm Prediction Center has placed a good portion of our area under a Slight Risk of severe weather today.
