The National Park Service on July 19 released photos of the park, showing burned-down structures, charred mountainsides and a smoke-filled canyon.
Near the North Rim fire scene on July 19, Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs said repeatedly she was not second-guessing the response.

Footage captured by the Grand Canyon NPS reveals smoke from the fire along the north rim of the park. Parts of the land were stained by fire retardant dropped by an aircraft.
The lightning-sparked South Rim fire in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park has burned 3,556 acres with no containment and mandatory evacuations remain in place.
