The 20th anniversary of Half-Life 2, one of the most influential shooters in the history of video games, comes with the breaking of a new record

Half-Life 2 marked two decades of existence in style by beating its Steam player count record over the weekend. The game developed by Valve peaked at 64,085 players. The game’s developers also marked the occasion with an anniversary documentary discussing the canceled Half-Life 2: Episode 3.

Half-Life 2 has broken its own concurrent player record on Steam. According to SteamDB, the seminal shooter has secured just over a 61.7K player peak over the weekend, the highest number of simultaneous players the game has achieved since records began in 2008.
