The current tenure of Shaktikanta Das as the Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is slated to end on December 10.

Shaktikanta Das, who has been heading the RBI since December 2018, has already surpassed the typical five-year term.

If granted an extension, Shaktikanta Das would become the longest-serving head of India's central bank since Sir Benegal Rama Rau's term ended in 1957.

MUMBAI: Stressing the importance of ethical conduct of banking for their long-term health and stability, the Reserve Bank governor Shaktikanta Das has warned bankers against misselling, opening accounts without proper KYC verification/documents and other unethical practices.

Shaktikanta Das, appointed in December 2018, stepped into the role during strained relations between the government and the RBI.

A voter turnout of 18.14 per cent was recorded in Maharashtra till 9 am as polling is underway on all 288 assembly seats in the state. Voting across 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra began at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm on Wednesday.
