House Rules Committee Chair Destin Hall, a Caldwell County attorney, has been expected to take on the role for some time, having already received the blessing of outgoing House Speaker Tim Moore, who won his race for Congress earlier this month.

Members of the North Carolina House Republican caucus voted to nominate Rep. Destin Hall (R-Caldwell) to serve at the chamber’s next Speaker in the session that will convene in January. Republicans will enjoy a 71-49 majority in January,

Destin Hall, an attorney who represents parts of Western North Carolina, will succeed House Speaker Tim Moore in January, Moore served a record five terms as House Speaker.
