P itcher JD Thompson of Vanderbilt baseball was drafted in the second round of the 2025 MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers on July 13.

With their third pick of the draft and No. 59 overall, the Brewers took Vanderbilt left-hander JD Thompson, who struck out 122 with 30 walks and a 4.00 ERA over 90 innings this past season.

The Milwaukee Brewers have a reputation around the league for their ability to develop pitching. After starting off their Draft class with a pair of left handed hitters, the Brewers have now gone back-to-back left handed pitchers in the 2nd round with the 59th and 68th overall selections.
