U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Friday he had "positive and constructive" talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, as the two major powers vied to push their agendas in Asia at a time of tension over Washington's tariff offensive.

Rubio said he was unable to provide a date for any potential meeting but said there was a “strong desire on both sides to do it.”

Rubio emerged from that Thursday meeting calling it a "frank" conversation in which he relayed Trump's "frustration" for Moscow's inflexible approach to the negotiating table for peace in Ukraine.
