A 39-year-old Stockton man was charged with attempted murder and arson after allegedly setting a probation officer ablaze.
A new wildfire was reported today at 9:30 a.m. in Humboldt County, California. Legion Fire has been burning on federal land managed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. At this time, details about the containment or cause of the fire are unknown.
Laguna Beach police said they identified the suspect as a 13-year-old boy, who was arrested on suspicion of felony reckless burning of forest land.

A massive California wildfire has prompted evacuation orders and a highway closure. The Madre Fire ignited Wednesday afternoon in San Luis Obispo County, according to Cal Fire. It has since grown to 79,936 acres and is 30% contained as of Sunday, fire officials said.
"The fire continues to burn at a moderate rate," Cal Fire said, adding that hundreds of firefighters were working through the night.
As of Saturday morning, the Madre Fire is 77% contained and has burned 80,786 acres in southeast San Luis Obispo County, according to CAL FIRE.
